Environmental protection and waste treatment
This term is usually used for waste produced by human activities. States undertake this process to mitigate the negative effects of residues on the environment, health and overall appearance. This process is also used for resource access and recycling, which can include processing Solid waste, liquid, gaseous and radioactive materials.
Waste treatment varies between developed and developing countries, between urban and rural areas, and between residential and industrial areas.
Treatment of non-hazardous, population or institutional waste in large urban areas is usually the responsibility of local government authorities, while the treatment of non-hazardous industrial and commercial waste is usually the responsibility of the generator of the waste.
